The League 2 season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.
Doncaster’s lead was cut after a Plymouth win as Luton closed in on the third and final automatic spot. Leyton Orient won to boost survival hopes with Newport cut adrift.

Crawley held leaders Doncaster – who have now won just once in the last seven – to a 0-0 draw, which saw Rovers’ lead cut after title rivals Plymouth won.
The unbeaten Accrington run was extended to five when Stanley recorded a 1-0 win – to remain six point clear of the bottom two – over Barnet. The Bees are now four without a win as the gap to the play-off was extended to eight points.
Blackpool recorded just a second win in 10 – seven had been drawn – when beating Morecambe 3-1. The Shrimps’ defeat ended a four game unbeaten run.
A late equaliser denied Cambridge a win to get the U’s back into play-off contention. Colchester’s point from this 1-1 draw at the Abbey Stadium saw them close the gap to the top seven to three points.
Cheltenham’s three game winning run came to an end after a 0-0 draw with play-off chasing Mansfield. This point made it four without defeat for the Robins though to leave them seven points clear of danger. The Stags missed the chance to move into the play-offs with the gap down to two points.
Grimsby’s play-off hopes were dented by a 2-1 defeat against Wycombe. This victory for the Chairboys – who came from a goal down to win – brought them back into top seven contention with Exeter just four points clear.
The Hartlepool survival bid was improved when they came from a goal down to beat Exeter – who remain in the top seven – 3-1 at Victoria Park.
Newport’s relegation was all but confirmed when Leyton Orient recorded a 4-0 win at Rodney Parade to boost the survival hopes. Orient won for the first time in four games to move to within five points of safety.
A first win in five for Plymouth closed the gap on leaders Doncaster to four points after the Pilgrims’ 2-0 victory over Carlisle. The Cumbrians’ third straight defeat saw them slip seven points behind the team in second with the gap to Luton – chasing down third – closed to a point.
Portsmouth missed the chance to move into an automatic promotion spot after slipping to a 1-0 defeat against Crewe. Pompey slipped to fifth with Alexandra’s first win in four keeping them seven points clear of trouble.
A seventh win in an eight game unbeaten run for Stevenage was secured after a 3-0 victory over struggling Notts County to put Boro up to sixth. County’s first defeat in six saw them drop to 22nd five points ahead of Leyton Orient.
It’s now just one win in the last 10 for Yeovil with the Glovers thrashed 4-0 by promotion chasing Luton. The Hatters moved up to fourth as the unbeaten run was extended to six with the gap to Carlisle reduced to a point.
