Rochdale boss Keith Hill is expected to become the new Barnsley manager, meaning Russell Slade looks to be staying at Brisbane Road.

Despite Barry Hearn rejecting Barnsley’s initial approach to speak to Slade, speculation about him leaving Brisbane Road hasn’t died down in recent weeks.

But confirmation of Hill’s appointment looks imminent, with BBC Radio Sheffield claiming Hill is set for the job whilst the official Rochdale website has announced that he has re-opened talks with Barnsley.

If the news is confirmed then it will be a big relief after a couple of nervous weeks, with little confirmation as to whether Slade was in talks with Barnsley or not. Other than Hearn’s initial rejection, little has been said from the club or Slade himself about his future.

He stayed as the favourite for the job for a long time and The Sun claimed Slade was ‘interviewed at a Starbucks on the M62’.

Whilst nothing has been officially confirmed it looks to be good news for Orient as losing Slade would be a big blow ahead of an exciting summer.

Hopefully all the speculation and rumours that Slade was looking to leave for Barnsley will not dent or overshadow what should be a productive few months for the O’s.

Do you think Hill will be confirmed as new Barnsley manager? Are you pleased Slade is staying? Leave your comments below….
