On Sky

Leyton Orient welcome Charlton Athletic to Brisbane Road for their first home game of the season. The O’s will be determined to put on a good show following Tuesday night’s win over Swindon Town.

Leyton Orient’s Jamie Jones

Speaking to the official O’s website, Leyton Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones said: ‘The boys are buzzing. Saturday was very disappointing for us, so to go back to the dressing room with a win under our belts was a great feeling.’

‘We went to Swindon and bounced back. Bring on Charlton now! Beating a team like Swindon does show what we’re capable of. We’ve got a great squad here and we should have belief because we are a good side.’

Leyton Orient Team News:

Michael Liddle should start in defence after sitting out Tuesday night’s game with a knock.

Adam Chambers is likely to start in the midfield in place of Jimmy Smith and Scott McGleish looks likely to be favoured ahead of Ryan Jarvis up front.

Player to watch: Matthew Spring

Matthew Spring will be determined to put on a good show for two reasons. Firstly, he is playing against his former club and secondly, the match is live on Sky.

The O’s midfielder is one of the most creative players in the team and the majority of any attacking play will go through him.

Charlton Athletic Team News:

Charlton are still adapting after the loss of a few key players over the summer. Jose Semedo should come back into the starting line-up after missing the 4-3 League Cup defeat against Shrewsbury Town.

Player to watch: Lee Martin

Lee Martin will play a similar role to Spring in the O’s team. It’s vital that Orient stop him from playing because he can create chances as well as ghost into space behind the defence and in between midfield players.

Match Facts & Stats

The O’s ran out 1-0 winners the last time these two teams were shown live on Sky. Scott McGleish’s header was enough to secure the win on that occasion.

Orient have won 11 times when these two teams have met while Charlton have won only 6 times.

The O’s have won their last three matches at home. Their biggest defeat against Charlton in recent memory came in the 1981/1982 season when Charlton won 5-2.

Match Prediction:

This looks set to be a very tight match on a night of pressure. It will come down to who can control the ball best and take advantage of their chances.

Orient to win by a single goal.
