With two new signings already this summer, it looks like Russell Slade could be busy over the next few months trying to strengthen the O’s squad ahead of the new season.
But when I asked which players you think we most needed in a poll, there was one overwhelming and unsurprising answer, we need new strikers!
Since the departure of last year’s top goalscorer Scott McGleish and loanee Harry Kane, our squad has looked the thinnest in attack. With only two recognised strikers in the squad in Alex Revell and Jonathan Tehoue, the strike-force has been pinpointed with the greatest need for improvement with 78% of the vote.
This is an unsurprising result as the current squad is in desperate need of at least one new striker. Alex Revell had a fantastic start to the season but his goals tailed off when injuries took their toll whilst Tehoue will always offer you a good presence from the bench but never enough goals.
Hopefully Slade will add a striker with real pace and eye for goal to support the goals of Revell, whilst I would expect another attacker to arrive on loan at some point in the season.
