Orient’s youth team came from a goal behind to secure victory against Swindon Town in the second round of the FA Youth Cup. Goals from captain Harry Beautyman (with a Beckham-esque free kick) and an extra-time winner from striker Jake Argent were enough to see off their Wiltshire opponents.

Orient had gone behind after 22 minutes when Seb Broomfield had deservedly put the hosts ahead with a good long range strike. However, Orient were level within five minutes thanks to Beautyman’s curling effort.

A sterling defensive performance from Elliott Babbs and kepper Jake Giddens kept a lively Swindon side at bay for the rest of the 90 minutes, with Beautyman and Musa Mennah impressing further up the pitch.

A defensive mistake seven minutes into extra time cost Swindon dearly. Their defence failed to deal properly with a long throw into the box, and Argent gleefully smashed home from just inside the area. Andy Edwards’ men will now travel to the land of the concrete cows for a Third Round fixture against Franchise FC.
