Jason Demetriou yesterday earned his first cap for the full Cyprus International team.

The match was held in Nicosia, Cyprus and was against the Serbian National team that included Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidic.

The International Football Tournament, held this year in Nicosia, is the 12th of its kind to include the National teams of Cyprus, Serbia, Ukraine and Slovakia.

Demetriou was used as a 2nd half substitute, coming on for defender Christofi in the 63rd minute.

By that time Cyprus were trailing to Serbia 2-0 thanks to two first-half goals from Jovanovic and Lazovic.

In the other game of the tournament, Ukraine beat Slovakia 3-2.

Here’s hoping Jason earns his 2nd cap tomorrow evening in the 3rd place play-off game.

Meanwhile, closer to home, on-loan defender Jordan Spence won his seventh England Under-19 cap in a friendly versus Spain at a sold-out Dean Court in Bournemouth.

Spence played the entire 90 minutes and was handed the Captain’s armband for the last 10 minutes when Middlesborough player Henri Lansbury was substituted.

Unfortunately the Spaniards run out 3-0 victors after quite a dominant performance.
