Leyton Orient have been given the ‘go ahead’ to discuss a future at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford according to chairman Barry Hearn.
Speaking to The Telegraph yesterday, Hearn revealed that the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) had no issues with Orient negotiating a rental agreement to share the venue with the eventual preferred bidder.
Hearn confirmed the news saying:
‘West Ham won`t want to hear this but the news that came down is they have no problem with me renting the Olympic Stadium and playing my fixtures there. It`s only a question of what rental I agree with the new operators. That`s a major breakthrough for me.’
This could be a significant new step in the process of Hearn’s vision to move Orient away from Brisbane Road and in to the Olympic Stadium with the aim of boosting the club’s reputation and support.
