McGleish was born in Barnet on the 10th February 1974.

He started his career in the semi-pro leagues aged 20 playing for Edgware Town in the 93-94 season.

In `94 Scott was transferred to Charlton Athletic where he failed to find the target in 6 appearances. A loan move to the O`s soon followed where he improved his strike rate with one goal in 6 appearances at Brisbane Road.

Peterborough brought McGleish to London Road in 1995, although he spent the best part of his two years there out on-loan at Colchester United and Cambridge United scoring 6 and 7 goals respectively.

This prompted a transfer to Brisbane Road for the 1996-1997 season where he formed a formidable partnership with Carl Griffiths scoring 7 in 36 appearances.

In true Orient style they let McGleish join Barnet the following season (1997-1998) where he started to flourish as a player.

In the decade that followed (1997-2007) McGleish played for four clubs (Barnet, Colchester United, Northampton Town and Wycombe Wanderers) and held a strike-rate of a goal every 3 games (158 goals, 464 games). McGleish finished as top-scorer 4 times at 3 different clubs during this time.

McGleish rejoined Northampton Town in 2008 on-loan for 3 months from Wycombe. When this loan ended he returned to Adams Park.

Geraint Williams made Scott his first signing for the O`s on the 12th February 2009. 2 days after the striker turned 35.

Scotty has been issued squad number 29.
