Elliott Omozusi will swap League One football for a stint in prison. The twenty-two year old, born in Hackney was arrested in May 2011 in Liverpool and was yesterday sentenced to a two and a half year stint behind bars.

In April 2010, 16 year old Agnes Sina-Inakoju was in Hoxton Chicken & Pizza by two men on bikes who shot ‘indiscriminately’ as they cycled past the shop hoping to aim towards two members of a rival gang.

Omozusi wasn’t found to have been involved in the murder itself, but was found guilty of witness intimidation.

Omozusi was in a nightclub in Liverpool in May when he and two other gang members, Shane Drew, 23, and Jamal Francis, 21, spotted an 18 year old who gave key evidence during the trial of four men in the Agnes murder trial.

Omozusi, backed by Drew and Francis, gave chase to the witness, who ran into local police officers. Omozusi was arrested and placed on police bail in the lead up to his trial.

The former Fulham, Norwich City and Charlton Athletic man was prevented from joining the rest of the squad in our pre-season tour to Finland due to bail conditions.

It is an utterly disgraceful action by Omozusi, we may well have been looking at having a murderer on our books had he caught up with the key witness and we fully expect Barry Hearn to rip up his contract.

As yet, there has been no official mention by the club of Omozusi’s sentence and impending departure from the club.

Arriving in the summer of 2010, Omozusi made 62 appearances for Orient, including the 8-2 hammering of non-league Droylsden in last seasons FA Cup. His last appearance in an Orient shirt came nearly a month ago, in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United at Brisbane Road.
