Lambs To The Slaughter

Ah, well we won the important one at the weekend, so I shan’t grumble too much when Beckford and his two nearly-Orient-player cronies up top of t’pitch hammer us into oblivion tomorrow. Interestingly Beckford has actually never scored against the O’s – think he’s about 22/1 with the bookies to get a hattrick, so be sure to lump on that.

If any of you were wondering about the ‘nearly Orient player’ comment, then step forward Robert Snodgrass who was going to sign for Orient until a) Leeds got involved and b) Orient realised they had to actually pay money to sign him. The other chappie? Tresor Kandol, as you can read about in this spiffing interview I conducted.

So, what chances of Orient snaffling a point or three? Well, we did beat this mob up there a couple of years back, and took the lead last time out before succombing so there’s a little spark of promise. That, or it means we’re overdue a proper tonking by the men in white. Call me a pessimist, but I know which one I reckon is more likely… Still, if Andros Townsend doesn’t go missing, and the defence plays out of it’s skin… …. ….. Nah. 4-0 I reckons.

Dirty Leeds United Team News:

Leeds have a number of injury worries, including captain Richard Naylor and midfielder Bradley Johnson who have both failed to recover from leg injuries.

Luciano Becchio and Ben Parker are also almost certain to miss out with knocks, which will be a slight relief to Orient after suffering at Becchio’s hands last season.

Gangly forward Tresor Kandol is back from a three-match suspension and will probably partner Beckford up front ahead of gigantic donkey Enoch Showunmi.

Player to watch: Neil Kilkenny

Only joking. It’s Beckford. Still, the young midfielder has been in fine form in recent weeks, and will be looking to aid the supply line to Leeds’ deadly strike force.

Leyton Orient Team News:

Apparantly there are a number of players carrying knocks, and there will be some fitness tests on the day of the game to see who’s in or out. Unfortunately, I don’t know who has picked up said injuries, so I’ll just close my eyes and run with the fact that Geraint Williams has a fully fit squad to choose from.

Jason Demetriou is likely to miss out again in favour of the more defensive-minded Jimmy Smith, but Scott McGleish may be rested in favour of Adrian Patulea.

Player to watch: Andros Townsend

It’s always good to have a balanced side. You need a player that’s very fast, one that’s very skilful, one that can beat and man, and one that can cross a ball. Unfortunately for Orient they’re all the same player. And he’s not even ours. Oh well. Banzaaaaaaaaaaaiiiii!
