Russell Slade’s charges continued their fine form, extending Orient’s unbeaten run to four games. Martin Rowlands’ goal was enough to earn The O’s a point on the road.

The starting XI saw Martin Rowlands return to the squad after missing Tuesday night’s hammering of Yeovil Town. The ex-QPR man came in for Jimmy Smith, who expressed his displeasure at being dropped through the medium of Twitter.

Orient’s unbeaten run was in jeopardy after just sixty-four seconds when the home side took the lead. Matt Tootle, one of many to have rose through the ranks at The Alex, put his side ahead after getting on the end of a Brendan Daniels cross.

Crewe’s lead didn’t last long though. Rowlands’ right foot was the saviour for The O’s as the experienced midfielder fired in a low shot into the bottom corner of Alan Martin’s goal.

Smith, who was ‘#fuming’ before the game was less so when he replaced the Orient scorer at half time.

The second half saw Crewe smash the woodwork through AJ Leitch-Smith and Anthony Griffith was sent-off for a second bookable offence.

Orient; Ryan Allsop, Leon McSweeney, Gary Sawyer, Ben Chorley, Nathan Clarke; Dean Cox, Anthony Griffith, Lee Cook (Moses Odubajo), Martin Rowlands (Jimmy Smith); Kevin Lisbie, Ryan Brunt (Michael Symes).
