The League 2 season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.
Doncaster and Plymouth again drew with Portsmouth’s win at promotion rivals Carlisle closing the gap on the top three. Leyton Orient and Newport defeats keep them in the bottom two.

Doncaster’s winless run was extended to five games when the leaders were held to a 2-2 draw – a fourth in these five games – against relegation threatened Accrington. This point for Stanley at the Keepmoat Stadium took them five points clear of the bottom two.
Luton were denied a win by title chasing Plymouth in a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters missed the chance to close in an an automatic promotion place with a second successive draw. The Pilgrims third game without a win kept them 2nd and three points off leaders Doncaster.
A Barnet defeat saw them lose further ground on a play-off place. However, Cambridge’s 1-0 win at the Hive made it three unbeaten to close the gap on the top seven to four points.
Promotion rivals Carlisle and Portsmouth met at Brunton Park with Pompey going away with a 3-0 win to close to within three points – with a game in hand – of the side in 3rd. Victory also took Paul Cook’s side up to 4th to make it three wins in four.
Colchester’s 2-1 win over Hartlepool at the Weston Homes Community Stadium maintained the U’s place in the top seven. Defeat for Pools – making it six without a win – means they remain just a place above the relegation zone, three points above Leyton Orient.
A first defeat in four was suffered by Crewe when Stevenage – with a fifth win in a six game unbeaten run – left Gresty Road with a 1-0 victory to remain just a point off the top seven and very much in play-off contention.
Exeter’s unbeaten run was extended to three but this 2-2 draw at St James Park with Blackpool was a third in a row for the promotion chasing Grecians. Pools – draw specialists with this a sixth in the last eight – are seven points off the play-offs in 15th.
Leyton Orient missed the chance to move out of the relegation zone after a 1-0 defeat to relegation rivals Cheltenham. This victory for the Robins made it back-to-back successes to move them six points clear of trouble.
After coming from a goal down Mansfield recorded a 2-1 win – a seventh win in the last 10 – against Newport meaning the Stags are outside of the play-offs on goal difference alone. The Exiles remain bottom of the Football League and six points from safety.
Morecambe’s hopes of a late surge into a play-off place were improved with a 1-0 win – a second in the last three – against Grimsby to move them above the Mariners. The Shrimps are now five points off the top seven.
The Notts County unbeaten run was extended to four after a 0-0 draw with Yeovil. The point at Meadow Lane means the Magpies are now five points clear of the bottom two – the Glovers 10 points clear.
Wycombe’s play-off hopes were dealt a further blow when they suffered a fifth straight defeat – sixth in the last seven – when Crawley left Adams Park with a 2-1 win. The Reds Devils are now 16th and just four points behind the Chairboys who are now four points from the top seven.
