Doncaster will retain top spot whatever happens but Donny will be keen to end a three game winless run against automatic promotion chasing Luton. The Hatters could move into an automatic spot if they won.
Accrington are in 20th but Stanley are just a place off the relegation zone with Colchester visiting the Crown Ground. The U’s are three points off the top seven but could move into a play-off place with a victory.
Both Barnet and Portsmouth are in need of the points at the Hive. The Bees are three points off the top seven with Pompey within in and still chasing an automatic promotion place. Ahead of this game Paul Cook’s side are four points off 3rd with a game in hand.
A first defeat in six saw Blackpool’s quest to finish in the top seven take a blow in midweek. Crewe head to Bloomfield Road having eased relegation concerns with a third straight win what Alexandra are in search of.
Cambridge’s run of four defeats in a six game winless run has seen the U’s drop off the play-off places. Bottom of the league Newport haven’t lost in six but as five have been drawn the Exiles remain four points from safety.
Back-to-back defeats have seen Cheltenham slip back into relegation trouble with Robins just a place and goal difference above the relegation zone. Yeovil’s four game unbeaten run will see the Glovers head to Whaddon Road in form.
There’s little between Crawley and Morecambe. Both are safe enough in midtable with the top seven too far out of reach but defeat could yet see a relegation battle on.
Exeter have lost once in 10 to hold a play-off place, which is something Stevenage could still yet secure. A Boro win – a fifth in a row – at St James Park could be enough to take them into the top seven.
A run of four without a win has seen Grimsby’s bid to finish in the play-offs take a blow. Mansfield are the most in form side in League 2 with a nine game unbeaten run taking the Stags up to 7th.
Back-to-back defeats for Hartlepool – three of the last four have been lost – mean Pools are just two points above the relegation zone. Another defeat at Victoria Park against title chasing Plymouth – who lost in midweek – could mean they end the weekend in the bottom two. The Pilgrims know a win could see them take a share of the lead.
A first win in nine for Leyton Orient in midweek – when Orient beat promotion chasing Plymouth – wasn’t enough to see them out of the bottom two. However, it’s only goal difference keeping it that way with relegation rivals Notts County visiting Brisbane Road. The Magpies are just a point above the relegation zone.
Wycombe’s back-to-back defeats – three in the last four – has seen them drop out of the play-off places. The Chairboys welcome promotion rivals Carlisle to Adams Park with the Cumbrians in risk of dropping out of the automatic promotion places.
It goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result. But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough.
