Geraint Williams dipped into the transfer market yesterday bringing in two players on month long loan deals.

Nicky Adams, 23, has signed from Coca-Cola Championship side Leicester City, the Bolton born winger began his career in 2005 at Bury, where he played for the next three years before Leicester paid £100,000 for his services. The former Wales under-21 international has struggled to make a big impression on The Foxes first team and has spent time on loan at Rochdale this season, making 14 appearances and scoring one goal for the League Two leaders.

Adams will initially stay at Brizzy Road till Saturday 13th February, a spell which could see the winger play in six League One games. The ex-Bury man will wear the 24 shirt whilst at the club.

This signing spelt the end of any possible Andros Townsend return, and as it was Townsend decided that despite being a little further from home he would join Milton Keynes Dons, seemingly for a different style of Football.

George’s next signing turned out to be young Fulham defender Matthew Briggs. Wandsworth born Briggs, 18, joins us on a similar deal to Adams with his loan expiring on the 13th February.

Briggs, is predominantly a left-back and will be cover for Charlie Daniels, which has been much needed since August.

Briggs has made one appearance for The Cottagers as a 27th minute substitute against Middlesbrough in May 2007. By coming on, Briggs broke the record for the youngest Premiership player being just 16 years and 65 days old.

The left-back has also played for England under-19’s and under-20’s making eleven appearances for his country. Briggs will wear the number 19 shirt whilst on loan at Orient.
