Leyton Orient suffered a crushing defeat at Crawley Town as Izale McLeod’s first half penalty settled the tie.

Orient looked the more threatening during the early exchanges but came up against an inspired Lewis Price in the hosts goal as the ‘keeper denied both Chris Dagnall and Darius Henderson.

Crawley were then awarded a penalty on the 32nd minute when Luke O’Neill bundled over Izale McLeod inside the box before the Reds captain dusted himself off to slot home the resulting spot-kick.

Brian Jensen replaced Price in the Crawley goal at half time and produced a fine stop to deny Marvin Bartley soon after the restart.

Orient failed to create much for the remainder of the half but Jensen was forced into action in added time to parry David Mooney’s effort away.

The defeat leaves Orient three points from safety.
