Martin Ling was justifiably happy with Orient’s 1-0 victory having seen his side play twice within 36 hours. Speaking to Leytonorient.com after the game, Ling commented on Orient’s superior fitness levels claiming that,’There won’t be a fitter team in the league because of the work we put in’. Ling added further,’We do enough work on the fitness side of things because we don’t want to leave any stone unturned in our bid to get promotion’.

Ling also underlined the importance of Jabo Ibehre’s strike just before the break which proved the match winner, which was the striker’s 2nd goal in the past three games and his fifth of the season. Praising Ibehre, Ling commented,’Over the last three games we’ve been trying to work on Jabo getting in the box after he’s laid the ball off and he’s scored two headed goals and made one for Shane Tudor at Wycombe.’He’s six-foot-two and he needs to get in there – that’s five for him this season now and he’s got a chance for ten’.

If Jabo is to hit at least ten goals this season then his erratic finishing will have to be worked on. The phrase ‘natural goalscorer’ does not quite fit into the same sentence as Jabo Ibehre at the moment, though his pace, skill and strength are to be admired. Still, with Lee Steele out for at least a fortnight, Ibehre has the chance to cement his place in the Orient starting line up.

In other news, Orient fans have the chance to choose next season’s new kit. The three choices are on leytonorient.com and fans have until January 9th to place their vote.
