Vital Orient understands that Martin Ling, manager of Leyton Orient for over 5 years between September 2003 – January 2009, has been appointed to the vacant hotseat at Blue Square Premier side Cambridge United.
Martin’s 5 years at Orient were mostly successful ones, with highlights including promotion to League One in 2006, a stunning FA Cup Third Round victory over Premiership Fulham at Craven Cottage and a number of months challenging at the top of League One during the 2007/08 season. He left the club by mutual consent after a poor first half of the last campaign which saw Orient entrenched in the bottom six at the time of his departure.
