Leyton Orient’s League 2 season continued with a defeat against Hartlepool at the Matchroom Stadium on Easter Monday.

Easter ended with Orient suffering back-to-back defeats, this two-nil loss to Hartlepool saw us remain in eighth place and outside the play-offs as we missed a chance to get back into them.

Hartlepool took the lead in the 49th-minute when Billy Paynter turned home a cross from Jake Carroll early in the second half. This lead doubled, and the points secured for the visitors, on 69-minutes when Nathan Thomas finished past Alex Cisak to leave Orient two-points outside the play-offs places.

Here’s a round up of the League 1 action from the other games played in the second half of the Easter weekend….

These were the other results.

Monday 28th March 2016
Wimbledon P-P Portsmouth
Barnet 2-1 Luton
Cambridge 0-0 Oxford Utd
Carlisle 3-2 Bristol Rovers
Crawley 0-2 Exeter
Leyton Orient 0-2 Hartlepool
Mansfield 2-2 Northampton
Newport 0-2 Accrington
Notts County 0-0 Wycombe
Plymouth 3-2 York
Stevenage P-P Yeovil

A Bristol Rovers (three-two) slip up against Carlisle saw them lose the advantage in the battle to finish in the top three with Plymouth’s (three-two) win not only moving them back up to third it also pushed York a step closer to relegation out of the Football League.

The Accrington (two-nil) win over Newport keeps them very much on Argyle’s tail though.

A play-off place is something Leyton Orient (two-nil) want but defeat at home against Hartlepool saw them lose further ground on this with wins for Exeter (two-nil) against Crawley and the Carlisle win against Bristol Rovers keeping both with outside chances of top seven finishes.

Leaders Northampton (two-two) extended the unbeaten run with a draw against Mansfield at the One Call Stadium.
