Three without a win – including successive defeats – has seen Cheltenham drop to 22nd. The Robins are only a place from safety but do hold a seven point cushion ahead of the visit from Cambridge – who have only once in the last four – to Whaddon Road.

Crewe’s second win in three has seen them open up a 10 point gap between them and safety. Colchester – after a first win in four – got back into play-off contention and will look to close the three points between them and the top seven against Alexandra.

A heavy midweek defeat at promotion chasing Portsmouth saw Grimsby’s play-off bid take a knock. However, if the recent run of results from the previous six games carries on against visiting Crawley the Mariners would return to winning ways and potentially move back into contention.

Hartlepool’s third win in four has seen a healthy gap open up between them and safety. Poolies might feel another victory against Wycombe – who are unbeaten in four – could be enough. But the Chairboys – who have drawn three of the four without defeat – are still in play-off contention so need a win at Victoria Park.

A midweek thrashing saw Leyton Orient – who have now lost five of the last six – drop to the bottom of the Football League. The meeting with table topping Doncaster – who have now won three of the last four – isn’t going to make things any easier as Orient desperately seek some points.

Play-off rivals Luton and Exeter meet at Kenilworth Road in a big game for both sides. Automatic promotion has probably gone but defeat for either – the Grecians could drop out of the top seven if beaten – could have grave consequences to the hopes of finishing in a play-off position.

Four without a win has seen Mansfield slip out of play-off contention heading into the meeting with Carlisle. A Stags victory and they’ll be back in the picture but the Cumbrians – having failed to win in five – also need the points as they look to consolidate a top seven place if not push for automatic promotion.

Back-to-back wins has taken Newport off the bottom of the league but the Exiles still have seven points to make up in order to remain in the Football League. Play-off chasing Blackpool – who are unbeaten in seven – will be the next visitors to Rodney Parade with Pools knowing a win could take them into the top seven.

Second place Plymouth are looking good for promotion but the title appears to be slipping away from them. Morecambe have lost their last three heading into the game at to Home Park but will look to further dent the Pilgrims’ chances and potentially leave them looking over their shoulders at those behind them.

A first defeat in 10 didn’t damage Stevenage’s play-off hopes but it did break the momentum that could have pushed Boro towards the top three? Portsmouth currently hold an automatic spot with Pompey six points clear of the play-off pack and hunting down – four points behind – Plymouth.

Yeovil’s four points from the last two games has all but assured the Glovers aren’t going to be drawn into the relegation battle. Accrington – a place ahead of their hosts – head to Huish Park unbeaten in seven.

League 2 rolls over into Sunday this weekend with Notts County and Barnet meeting at Meadow Lane. The Magpies have lost two of the last three but still hold a commanding eight point advantage over the bottom two so look good for Football League survival whereas the Bees – having won just once in 10 – have slipped down to midtable.

It goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result. But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough.

Ahead of the game we’re looking for your views on what way you think it will go, which requires you to vote in the latest poll in one of the options you have been given.

However, don’t just look also have a say. We don’t just want your vote, which you can do to the right, we also want some thoughts and views ahead of the game as well so share these below.
