Doncaster Rovers midfielder Sean Thornton is on the verge of joining the club.

The former Sunderland player only has to pass a medical before sealing a move to Brisbane road.

Thornton was released by Doncaster this summer after joining in 2005. He was the record signing at the time for a fee of £125,000.

It could signal the end for Michael Simpson as the centre of midfied looks quite full.

The Irish-born player will be seen as the new creative spark in the midfield. his discpline has been called into question at times but it will be a new start for him. An exciting signing.

NOTE: THORNTON HAS PASSED HIS MEDICAL AND HAS SIGNED A TWO YEAR CONTRACT WITH THE CLUB.
