Tottenham Hotspur’s youngsters were unable to overcome Sporting Lisbon at Brisbane Road in their quarter final NextGen Series clash despite a goal from former Orient academy player Roman Michael-Percil.

The Portuguese side rushed into the lead after five minutes, but were pegged back just over a minute later as Nathan Oduwa scored for the hosts.

Sporting then took control of the game as they added another goal either side of the break to move into a 3-1 lead.

The north London kids were given a lifeline with 10 minutes to go when Laste Dombaxe converted from the penalty spot.

And Spurs made Sporting pay deep into injury time as Michael-Percil netted to force extra time.

But it proved to be one step too far for the home team with Lisbon once again scoring two more goals as they sealed their place in the NextGen Series semi finals.
