Leyton Orient are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Jay Simpson in the three nil victory over Colchester United at the weekend at the Colchester Community Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Simpson was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘The club’s top scorer from last season, Simpson had failed to find the net in 2016/17 until Orient’s trip to Colchester United. The striker scored twice – one in each half – as the O’s cruised to a 3-0 win in Essex.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Simpson for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Luke McCormick (Plymouth Argyle), Conor Townsend (Scunthorpe United), Matthew Bates (Hartlepool United), Nathaniel Knight-Percival (Bradford City), Liam Mandeville (Doncaster Rovers), Johnny Goddard (Swindon Town), John Fleck (Sheffield United), Josh Sheehan (Newport County), Jay Simpson (Leyton Orient), Nile Ranger (Southend United), Kyle Vassell (Blackpool).

Manager – Graham Westley (Newport County).
