Leyton Orient’s pre-season campaign got under way with a 3-2 win at Dartford on Friday night.

Lloyd James scored a first half brace before scholar Scott Kashket tucked away a penalty on the 54th minute.

Orient took the lead on the 10th minute when James calmly controlled a long ball forward and poked the ball past Jason Brown in the Dartford goal.

The midfielder grabbed his second of the night 12 minutes later when his effort from 25-yards flew into the top corner.

Dartford pulled a goal back on the 31st minute when Lee Noble headed in a Ryan Hayes free-kick.

Orient manager Russell Slade made ten changes to their side for the second half, which included trialists George Elokobi and Valentin Gjokaj, as well as scholar Scott Kashket.

Kashket was looking lively and following good link-up play between David Mooney and Chris Dagnall, the youth team player earned a penalty when he was felled in the box.

The scholar showed great composure to take the penalty himself and restore Orient’s two goal lead.

Goalkeeper Gary Woods replaced Adam Legzdins on the hour and Dartford made it 3-2 on the 76th minute when Tom Derry’s heavily deflected shot gave Woods no chance.

With a storm brewing, the referee brought the game to an end a few minutes early as Orient claimed their first win of pre-season.

First Half XI: Legzdins, Ling, Baudry, Humphrey, Sawyer, Agyemang, Bartley, James, Cox, Batt, Lisbie
Second Half XI: Legzdins (Woods 61), Omozusi, Nikalaou, Elokobi, Gjokaj, Kashket, Vincelot, Pritchard, Lee, Dagnall, Mooney
