Leyton Orient stepped up their pre-season preparations as they won 4-1 against Conference Premier Welling United on Friday night.

A brace from David Mooney and further strikes from Shaun Batt and Dean Cox guided the O’s to a 4 goal lead before Welling grabbed a late first half consolation through former Orient player Loick Pires.

The visitors got off to a flying start through Irishman Mooney who headed the ball home after four minutes.

Mooney then completed his brace in the 16th minute as Batt played him in to finish easily from inside the box.

Winger Cox scored the pick of the bunch as he dinked the ball over the goalkeeper after neat play between Batt and Romain Vincelot.

The O’s were comfortable but were briefly halted in their superiority when Loick Pires grabbed Welling’s only goal of the game.

The second half saw an side which featured many trailists and youngsters who were unable to dominate the match like the first half team.

A Goalless second half ensured the O’s made it two wins from two games in pre-season. Tamworth lie ahead for the O’s on Saturday.
