Kevin Nugent claimed his first league win as O’s boss on Tuesday night as Orient won 2-0 at Doncaster Rovers.

Jay Simpson gave the O’s an early lead with just 2 minutes played before Darius Henderson sealed the points just after the hour with a wonderful curling effort.

With Nathan Clarke and Mathieu Baudry suspended and Romain Vincelot out with a knee problem, Nugent named a youthful bench which included scholars Montel Agyemang and Victor Adeboyejo for the first time this season.

In blustery conditions Orient got off to the perfect start when Simpson broke down the left before composing himself to slot the ball beyond Rovers goalkeeper Jed Steer.

Orient had a let off on the 18th minute however when Gary Woods produced a fine stop to keep out Nathan Tyson’s strike but the rebound fell kindly to James Coppinger who to the whole stadium’s surprise, shot straight at Elliot Omozusi with the whole goal gaping.

With five minutes of the first half remaining Doncaster then felt they should have had a penalty when Tyson beat Woods to a long ball before claiming that Scott Cuthbert had handled the ball behind for a corner.

Despite the hosts pushing forward Orient doubled their lead on the 62nd minute when Darius Henderson controlled the ball from a corner and cut the back back to the corner of the box before curling a sublime left footed shot into the far corner.

The O’s defence then defended the remainder of the match admirably as Kevin Nugent picked up his first league victory as O’s boss and increase the unbeaten run to four matches.
