With most positions now sure of cover it leaves only left back and left midfield for manager Martin Ling to fill before the season starts.

At the moment Aiden Palmer is our only left back. He has long deputised for Matt Lockwood and it is time to make the position his own. When he has played he has impressed and shown he has a bright future. Palmer is a product of the youth team and still is only 20-years-old.

Ling has brought in Fred Murray on trial to compete with Palmer. Murray played in Ibiza and seemed to impress there, and will play against Spurs on August 1st, in the friendly at Brisbane Road. It seems likely Murray will sign a permanent deal, and it could be a frustrating season again for Palmer.

The only left midfielder currently with the Orient squad is Wayen Corden. Corden is frustratingly inconsistent. He has a fantastic cross, which he can provide with either foot and despite his age can go round defenders easily. The problem is his he can go missing for games, and all to often you forget he is there. There needs to be competition to push Corden.

This seems it will come in the shape of Tottenham reserve Charlie Daniels. Daniels is a 20-year-old who initially experienced first team football with Chesterfield. Daniels is a pacey left sided player who can play at both left back and left midfield, which is obviously handy. Nothing is officially set in stone, but there have been a lot of talk of a season-long loan deal. There have also been quite a few rumours as to his first Orient appearance. Ling was quoted a while back saying he has tied a deal up for a left midfielder on loan, but wasn’t able to disclose who he was. It is rumoured Daniels will make his debut in the Tottenham game. Bizarrely playing one half for Tottenham, then the second period for Orient.

The left sided situation is a bit up in the air, but it does seem likely Orient will bag those players, however the jury will be out for the start of the season, and it will be interesting to see how all mentioned players fair this campaign.
