Leyton Orient’s Ryan Jarvis has joined Northampton Town on loan until the 3rd of January.

Jarvis, 24, signed for the league 2 club after not featuring for the O’s and Russell Slade regularly this season.

After hearing about how patched up the O’s squad has been over recent weeks, the decision to let Jarvis leave seems a strange one. Obviously he will be looking to play first-team football but his versatility would have been an added security going into the winter period.

He has never been a consistent striker at Orient (19 goals in 109 games isn’t great reading) and I admit can be really frustrating to watch at times. But with Tehoue still not fully fit and prone to injury and Scotty McGleish unlikely to start two consecutive games, Jarvis’ departure leaves Orient a little short in attack.

Whatever the reasoning behind Jarvis’ move, I just hope he can find a few goals at Northampton and his departure doesn’t come back to haunt the O’s over the Christmas period.
