Fabio Liverani suffered defeat in his first game in charge as Leyton Orient lost 2-1 at home to Peterborough.

With a shortage of strikers available Liverani chose Shaun Batt to lead the line but Orient fell behind early on after Aaron McLean fired Posh ahead.

Batt had been without a goal for over a year but ended that run with a low driven left footed shot from the edge of the box on the 39th minute.

A sluggish start to the second half led to Orient falling behind for a second time however as Erhun Oztumer’s free-kick two minutes after the restart rippled the back of the net.

Orient pushed forward for an equaliser late on and 16-year-old substitute Victor Adeboyejo nearly claimed a debut goal in the dying seconds following a scramble in the box, only to see Kgosi Ntlhe scramble his effort off the line.

The defeat see’s Orient drop into the relegation zone and down to 22nd, three points from safety.
