Leyton Orient started the new year with a 1-0 home defeat to Fleetwood.

Orient were below par in the first half and nearly fell behind midway through the half when Stephen Dobbie saw his shot come back off the bar.

Chris Dagnall has been in inspired form lately and came close to putting the O’s ahead before half time but the striker saw his shot tipped onto the post by visiting goalkeeper Chris Maxwell.

The O’s then fell behind in terrible fashion after the interval however as Fleetwood attacked straight from kick off and Gareth Evans slotted the ball beyond Gary Woods after 17 seconds.

There was late drama however as Bradley Pritchard was clearly brought down inside the box by Stephen Crainey but referee Fred Graham awarded a free kick instead.

Fabio Liverani was sent to the stand for going onto the pitch when remonstrating about the decision and the defeat see’s Orient now sit above the relegation zone on goal difference.
