Bradley Pritchard scored the only goal as Leyton Orient defeated Northampton on Saturday.

The O’s summer signing scored the only goal of the match on the 62nd minute following good work from Dean Cox and Chris Dagnall.

Scott Cuthbert featured for the first time in pre-season, replacing Shane Lowry who suffered a dead leg against Gateshead.

Dean Cox had the first real chance for Orient with just under ten minutes played, firing a volley inches over the bar.

Northampton provided a physical test for the O’s defence and John-Joe O’Toole almost opened the scoring with a header on the 30th minute.

Chris Dagnall was looking lively in attack for Orient and responded with a couple of chance of his own, first forcing Cobblers goalkeeper Matt Duke into making a save at his near post before testing Duke again with a similar effort moments later.

Mathieu Baudry’s header from a Dean Cox free-kick skimmed the bar just after the interval before Orient opened the scoring.

Cox played the ball out to Dagnall who picked out the run of Bradley Prichard. The former Charlton man then registered his first goal in an Orient shirt with a curling effort past Duke.

As the match neared the end, O’s goalkeeper Adam Legzdins responded well to keep out an Ivan Toney header and Orient claimed their second win of pre-season.

Next up, QPR at Brisbane Road on Tuesday!

Orient: Legzdins, Sawyer, Clarke (Okusun 72), Baudry (Omozusi 57), Cuthbert (James 45), Cox, Vincelot, Bartley (Lisbie 64), Pritchard, Mooney (Batt 64), Dagnall (Kashket 87)
