Leyton Orient’s most testing pre-season friendly to date was a success, as they held Premiership side West Ham at Brisbane Road last night.

New striker Adam Boyd grabbed the headlines of manager Martin Ling’s testamonial, as the 25-year-old scored on his first outing for the club. The Former Luton striker hit a stunning 30 yard volley past Robert Green to cancel out Dean Ashtons equally spectacular earlier effort.

In a tight affair which saw a host of new players in an Orient shirt, The O’s more then matched their East London rivals.

It has to be seen as encouraging, and the earlier fear expressed by the Orient fans when a host of players left the club, must be fading, and although it has only been one game the future looks bright at E10 this season.
