Leyton Orient have announced that goalkeeper Jamie Jones has rejected a new contract at the Club in order to sign a two-year deal with Preston North End.

The 25 year-old joined the O`s in 2008 following his release from Everton and went on to make 179 appearances for Orient.

Jones first appearance in an Orient shirt came against Southend back in 2008 when the O`s won 4-2 to progress to the next round of the League Cup.

The goalkeeper was then handed the number one jersey ahead of the 2010/11 season following the departure of Glenn Morris.

Speaking exclusively to Preston North End`s official website PNE.com, Jones revealed his decision to join the Lilywhites.

‘It feels great to be signing, a Club like Preston is where I want to be at this part of my career and it is where I want to try and push myself to be in the next division and Preston`s goals are exactly the same as mine,” he said.

Following Jones` departure, Leyton Orient have only young shot stopper Charlie Grainger on the books so O`s manager Russell Slade will be keen to bring in a new goalkeeper.

An ideal replacement for most Orient fans would be Eldin Jakupovic but at this moment in time it looks unlikely that the Bosnian will return to Brisbane Road.
