In his first official press conference since buying the club, Francesco Becchetti said he does not believe this to be a start of a new era.

‘We are continuing with ever more strength in the history of Leyton Orient. I have found a wonderful team here,” Mr.Becchetti claimed.

The Italian businessman also discussed current Orient manager Russell Slade and revealed he has held discussions with the manager and drawn up a list of transfer targets.

‘Russell was told give me a list of players and tell us in which positions he needs reinforcements,” he said. “One minute later he was authorised to start negotiating with the first persons on every list for the role.”

This suggests that Orient could be set for a busy next couple of weeks, bringing in several new players into the team.

Former owner and chairman Barry Hearn reiterated at the press conference that he feels Mr.Becchetti is the right man to take the club forward and thanked the fans for their support during his 20 years at Orient.

Mr.Becchetti announced at the end of the press conference he would like Barry Hearn to become the honorary president of the club.
