Leyton Orient’s home worries continued as Mauro Milanese’s first game as manager ended with a 2-0 defeat to Preston.

Milanese handed a debut to Gianvito Plasmati in attack but a Orient fell behind on the 19th minute when Callum Robinson tucked the ball home from a Chris Humphrey cross.

Jay Simpson had two chances straight after the goal but was first denied by Jamie Jones before David Buchanan cleared his shot off the line.

Former Orient goalkeeper Jones then made a fine double save to deny both Simpson and Plasmati five minutes before half time as Preston went in at the break ahead.

The O’s continued to try and work a way back into the match but were unable to work as many openings in the second half against an organised Lilywhites side.

The visitors then made the points safe with 15 minutes remaining when Paul Huntington tapped in from close range following Tom Clarke’s header across goal.
