Leyton Orient’s League One woes continued as the dropped into the relegation zone following defeat at Gillingham.

Despite Chris Dagnall looking to have snatched a point in added time, the hosts responded with a 97th minute winner to defeat the O’s 3-2 and leapfrog Mauro Milanese’s side.

Gillingham had a chance to take an early lead when Scott Cuthbert was adjudged to have brought down Adam Chicksen inside the box and a penalty was awarded. Danny Kedwell stepped up to take the kick but Adam Legzdins guessed correctly and kept the spot kick out.

That was to be the closest either side got in a tight first half but Orient started the second have sharply and won a penalty of their on on the 47th minute when Josh Wright went down. Italian striker Gianvito Plasmati stepped up to confidently dispatch the kick and claim his first O’s goal.

Leon Legge then turned the game on its head as the Gills defender scored two goals from similar set-pieces but the O’s were handed a lifeline when Michael Doughty was shown a second yellow card.

With the match deep into added time Orient then thought they had salvaged a point as substitute Chris Dagnall headed past Stuart Nelson but their was to be heartbreak for the O’s as Cody McDonald fired a 97th minute winner past Legzdins.
