Romain Vincelot scored a 97th minute equaliser as Leyton Orient salvaged a point in the dying seconds at Sheffield United.

The Frenchman headed the O’s level in the final minute of injury time after Sheffield United had scored twice in three minutes to turn the game on it’s head.

Like against Dagenham & Redbridge in midweek Orient lined up in a 4-3-3 formation as loanee Jack Price made his debut in midfield.

Up against it in the opening minutes, Leyton Orient grew into the match as the half wore on and took the lead seven minutes before halftime when Jay Simpson poked the ball home from close range after Bradley Pritchard had fizzed the ball back across goal.

Sheffield United came flying out of the blocks in the second half as Simpson cleared Craig Alcock’s header off the line before James Wallace shocked the whole stadium by somehow firing an effort from a yard out over the bar.

Orient managed to soak up the pressure until the 75th minute when Jobi McAnuff was shown a second yellow card to make life difficult for the visitors.

The sending off certainly riled the home fans as United came flooding forward in the final ten minutes, first having a penalty appeal waved away before seeing efforts crash back off the woodwork in successive minutes.

Kevin Nugent’s side were unable to hold on however as the Blades grabbed a 90th minute equaliser when Paddy McCarthy fired in from six yards despite Romain Vincelot appearing to be fouled in the build-up.

Sheffield United then looked to have completed the turnaround two minutes later when Marc McNulty emphatically headed Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s cross past O’s ‘keeper Gary Woods, who had been in fantastic form all game.

The match was not over though as in the seventh minute of added time Jack Price’s corner was met by the unmarked Vincelot to head in a dramatic equaliser and extend the O’s unbeaten run on the road to ten matches.
