Jabo Ibehre has signed a new contract at Brisbane Road which keeps the O?s striker at Brisbane Road until the end of the 2007/8 season. Jabo has been a favourite with O?s supporters ever since he burst onto the scene at the age of 17 and despite constant rumours linking the player with a move to Millwall, Ibehre has revealed that he was always going to stay in E10.

?I’m delighted that I’ve signed – it’s put my mind at rest?, said Ibehre. The O?s striker was pleased to sign the deal after numerous rumours had suggested that he may leave Brisbane Road for pastures new. ?There weren’t really many questions, but with the speculation I just wanted to clear everything up. The fans are great to me here and there was no doubt I wasn’t going to go elsewhere really?. Having just won promotion to League One, Ibehre admits that last season was his best year to date at the club. ?Last year was my most enjoyable year here with promotion and getting a good run without injuries – that’s given me a massive lift after being out for the amount of time I was. I’ve seen the highs and lows since I’ve come through the youth team so I appreciate it even more?. Now Jabo is looking forward to next season and the challenge of League One football. ?This is a great time for me to crack on in another league – I’m looking forward to the test so much, if someone said we were back next week I’d be happy with that!?

O?s boss Martin Ling was understandably delighted with Jabo?s signature. ?It’s great news that Jabo has decided to stay with us, especially after the bits of speculation that have been flying around?. Ling expects the strong striker to have a positive impact in League One next season. ?He had his most consistent season for us last year and now looks to be over his bad run of injuries – he will be a big part of our plans for the next two years now?. With Ibehre?s future now sorted out, Ling has successfully completed the signings of all three out of contract players after Adam Tann and Wayne Corden signed earlier in the week. However, Ling knows how special the signing of Ibehre is to the Orient fans. ?Jabo means a lot to everyone at Orient because of his development here and we always wanted him to stay. Now the three of the out of contract boys are all signed up I can step up the search for a couple of new players?.
