The Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) have backed plans for Orient fans to have their say on the Olympic Stadium before any announcement over who will get ground.

The FSF said on their website they are ‘backing the calls of Leyton Orient, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham fans who have demanded a meeting with the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) before it makes its recommendation on the future use of the Olympic Stadium in east London.’

The FSF have also made it clear that they are against both West Ham and Spurs bids for the stadium. The backing of a important organisation like the FSF is a boost whilst the decision has been postponed and the outcome is still uncertain.

Chair of the Leyton Orient Fans` Trust Doug Harper said on the FSF website: “Either Spurs or West Ham moving to Stratford would have an adverse effect on us. Our interpretation is that any move would contravene Premier League and Football League rules. Having a big club move right onto our doorstep couldn`t do anything but. There have been constant rumours about moving Orient from Leyton. Spurs or West Ham moving to Stratford can only bring such a horrible prospect closer.”

Having a organisation like the FSF raising concerns over the bids and more specifically over the future of the O’s makes a nice change after weeks of very little attention on Orient other than from the club itself.

Fans of every club involved or possibly effected by the future of the stadium should be consulted and more importantly their views taken into consideration. The fans are the ones that pay the ticket prices every season or every week and make the journeys to their grounds to support their clubs. Orient fans’ views are just as important as those of West Ham or Spurs.

The FSF notes that ‘Both bids endanger Leyton Orient`s future by bringing a major club with increased capacity right onto their doorstep.’ Their statement ends by saying ‘The FSF has written the Olympic Park Legacy Company, the Premier League, the FA, Government Ministers and the Mayors of Newham and London to express supporters` opposition to the West Ham and Spurs bids.’

Hopefully the FSF’s involvement will raise the awareness in Orient’s plight whilst also giving the fans of every club a say in the matter.

Are you pleased that the FSF are offering support to Orient’s and the fans concerns? Leave your thoughts below….
