Former Leyton Orient star Tamika Mkandawire has signed a new contract at Millwall and is finally making an impact at The Den.

Mkandawire, 27, left the O’s in the summer when he decided not to renew his contract at Brisbane Road.

He joined O’s local rivals Millwall in The Championship but struggled at first to make the step up and hold down a regular starting spot for his new team.

But now Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has moved Tam to the centre of midfield with much more success, most recently in Millwall’s last match against Norwich where we was awarded man of the match.

During his three years at Brisbane Road, Mkandawire was a consistent performer at the back and was always seen as a player who could successfully make the step-up a division.

The one-year extension on Tam’s contract will keep him at Millwall until 2013.
