Former Leyton Orient striker Lee Steele is today representing his country in The 2013 London ITU Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championships.

The iconic frontman, who scored Orient’s promotion sealing goal in 2006 is taking part in the 40-44 age group Aquathlon, which involves a 1000 metre swim followed by a 5 kilometre run.

Steele has been balancing training for the event with his role as fitness coach at Oldham Athletic.

Speaking to the Oldham website Steele admitted that it has been a challenge training for the two stage event.

‘As a footballer and a striker, my training was based on speed. To go and train for an endurance event has been doubly difficult.’

VitalOrient wishes Lee all the best in the Aquathlon later today.
