Chris Dagnall’s 78th minute effort claimed an impressive point for Leyton Orient at Preston North End.

Orient took an early lead through David Mooney, who played at the tip of a diamond in midfield. The Irishman capitalised on David Buchanan’s heavy touch to bring the ball forward and sweep it into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Preston soon took control of the tie however and equalised when Jermaine Beckford headed home Paul Gallagher’s free-kick.

Gallagher then fired the Lilywhites ahead from the penalty spot midway through the second half after Scott Cuthbert had tripped Kyel Reid.

With only 12 minutes remaining however Chris Dagnall bundled his way through the Preston defence before curling the ball beyond Sam Johnstone to seal a share of the points.
