O’s defender Scott Cuthbert missed the pre-season friendly against Gateshead on Wednesday after suffering an injury whilst at the club’s training camp in Northumberland.

After announcing the teams for the match, Orient confirmed on Twitter that the 27-year-old had picked up a knock earlier on in the week and had returned to London.

Orient boss Russell Slade said after the match that the defender has a ‘groin issue’.

Although it is not thought to be serious, the injury will be frustrating for Cuthbert, who revealed in an interview on the club’s website earlier on this month that he was delighted to be fully fit for pre-season for the first time in three years.
