Winger Lee Cook feels he can still play in the Championship after not having his contract renewed in E10.

Despite Russell Slade’s attempts to convince the former QPR midfielder that his future lies at Brisbane Road, the winger has gone searching for football in the division above.

Speaking to BBC Sport Cook expressed his gratitude to the Orient.

‘I enjoyed my football (at Orient) and that was the most important thing for me, to play football and get my name back out there.’

But the wide man is adamant he can still perform inside the top two leagues.

‘I hope that with getting appearances under my belt I will get a bit of interest, maybe from higher teams. I am 30 years old and still feel I could play at a higher level.’

If his mission to find Championship football is unsuccessful Cook has not fully closed the door on returning to the O’s before the start of the 2013/14 campaign.

‘I will speak to him (Russell Slade) again when I get back from holiday and (Cook and Slade will) update each other from there.’
