The O`s begin their festive period with a trip to Kent as they take on Gillingham. The Boxing Day encounter sees Gillingham hoping to continue on from their fine away win at Tranmere Rovers.

For Orient they must bounce back quickly if they are to extend their stay at the top of the league.

It promises to be an intriguing clash by the Medway, VitalOrient previews the action ahead of Thursday`s match.

Vital Preview

Gillingham Team News:

Myles Weston is a doubt with a hamstring complaint whilst Danny Kedwell misses out completely with a Hernia problem.

Midfielders Danny Hollands and Chris Whelpdale are being assessed over knee and leg injuries respectively.

Player to watch: Adebayo Akinfenwa

“The Beast” will be hoping to add further strikes following his brace at Tranmere last Friday.

Known for his strength, Akinfenwa can scare any defender at this level when he is on his game.

Orient will have to stop the in-form striker if they are to have a successful trip to Kent.

Leyton Orient Team News:

– Dean Cox is expected to feature after recovering from the illness that saw him miss the 3-2 defeat against Crawley.

David Mooney completes the final match of his three game ban whilst Elliot Omozusi returns from suspension.

Player to watch: Mathieu Baudry

The Frenchman will be hoping to put Saturday`s performance behind him and help the O`s to some much needed points.

Baudry was at fault for Crawley`s third goal at the weekend in an uncharacteristic performance from the elegant defender.

With games coming thick and fast he will be hoping that he can show that his display against Crawley was a one-off.
