Former Hartlepool striker Adam Boyd has left Luton Town by mutual consent.

Boyd has been linked with Leyton Orient in the past few weeks, and with his contract at Kenilworth Road null and void, rumours of a move to Orient will increase.

It was thought Luton wanted a five figure sum for the 25-year-old hitman.

Boyd has had a torrid few years. In 2005 he had an amazing season scoring 29 goals for Hartlepool. He was one of the most sort after striker in the country. However he suffered a serious injury and was picked up by his ex-manager Mike Newell at Luton for £500,000.

At Luton he scored only twice in 23 appearances, causing a backlash from angry fans.

With a deal for Boyd seeming hours away lets hope he can re-produce the form he had at Hartlepool, as he clearly is a talented player who could be a shrewd acquisition for the football club.
