A trip to Premier League side Blackburn Rovers awaits The O’s in the third round of the Carling Cup, only if we beat Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.

The midday draw set up an appealing tie for either Orient or the Gas, that must be played the week commencing 19th September 2011.

However, the trip to Ewood Park isn’t likely to boost either Orient’s or Bristol Rovers’ coffers by large amounts as the north west side only drew 8,607 for their second round tie against Sheffield Wednesday.

Their are links between the O’s and Blackburn. Although we haven’t met on a first team level for quite a while, however, the two sides youth teams met only a couple of years ago in the FA Youth Cup.

Not only that but in recent years Orient have borrowed two players from Rovers on a temporary basis. Aaron Doran joined on a one month loan deal in February 2010, playing 6 games, however, he hardly set the world alight. The second was Jason Brown who joined in November 2010 to cover an injury picked up by Jamie Jones also for a month and during that time, he made five appearances. Brown wasn’t the fittest player we’ve had but was a very good signing made by Russell Slade.
