Speaking after Saturday`s 3-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth Orient boss Russell Slade confirmed that the club have begun discussions on a contract extension for Frenchman Mathieu Baudry.

The ex-Bournemouth man who shone against his former club at the weekend has been a revelation in the heart of the Orient defence this season. His excellent defending abilities combined with his skillful play on the ball have earned him rave reviews by Orient fans` this campaign.

Now Orient gaffer Slade wants him to be part of a squad that can challenge higher up in the table for the 2013/14 term. The O`s boss has already secured the future of talented youngster Moses Odubajo and stalwart Kevin Lisbie, his next target is to secure the future of Orient`s number six.

Speaking to the London 24 Slade stated his desire to keep Baudry and the core of this Orient Squad.

“We`re looking to extend Mathieu Baudry`s contract and there are other players I`ve got to speak to.”

It has been a relatively successful season so far, with the O`s challenging to finish in the top half of npower League 1 as well as making the regional final of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy; Slade will be hoping to secure his top players for the future so that this term can be a platform for the forthcoming 2013/14 season.
