Striker Gary Alexander was just one goal away from equalling the club record set by Tommy Johnston who scored in 10 consecutive league and cup games in 1957/58.

However Grimsby goalie thwarted his ambitions in Orients 1-0 win. Mildenhall pulled off three saves from Alexander, the one early on in the second half being a superb one handed save when Alexander looked a dead cert to score.

Martin Ling says the 26 year old striker is in the form of his life having scored 10 goals in 9 games.

‘Gary says the goal looks so big at the moment, and that the ball looks like a marble. He thinks he’s going to score in every game, and if chances come along I’m confident he’ll put them away.’
