Linking Nicky Adams and Leyton Orient feels a little like a broken record now. But the possibility of the one-time O’s loanee returning to the club has once again been teased to the O’s fans.

Adams, now of Rochdale, told Guardian Series Sport: “I really enjoyed my time here (at Orient) and I`ll never forget it. It was really good. Obviously I want to win with my new team (Rochdale), but the fans were great to me.”

Asked about the possibility of playing for the O’s again, Adams told Guardian Series Sport: ‘Not this season. But maybe next year.”

There is no doubt that Adams would have been a great acquisition for the O’s but Orient seemed to have missed the chance when Adams moved to Brentford instead over the summer.

But his move to Brentford is one Adams admits did not work, telling Ross Davies of Guardian Series Sport that he would have liked a transfer to the O’s to have gone through during the summer.

Adams has returned twice to Brisbane Road already this season in the league, once for Brentford and most recently for Rochdale. Despite the blistering form the O’s fans so fondly remember him for, Adams has struggled on both occasions.

The possibility of Adams playing in an O’s shirt again anytime soon still seems slim but there is no doubting that Orient and Russell Slade could really do with a player of his quality down the wing!
